Spring - The coast wakes
Cherry blossom, snow still on the peaks.
March to May. Stunning backcountry lines changing to some of the best spring corn available. Blossom around the house, the mountains still white behind. Warming seas, rice planting and traditional spring festivals.
Summer - The sea
Warm water at the door.
Morning waves, cruising stunning coastal roads to Kanazawa and north to Yamagata. The local Nou fish market, where the ojii-san saves you the good uni now. Work from the home office with the ocean breeze through the room. Friends arrive — and finally understand why.
Autumn - The calm
The year turning back toward snow.
Autumn colour, rice harvest, mountain air meeting sea air. The quiet season, before the first snow fall and it all begins again.
